If a Karachi(Pakistan) police surgeon is to be believed, on an average 100 rapes take place in the port city of Karachi alone, and mostly working women are the victims.
He said because of the “lengthy medical process and delayed justice system in Pakistan”, only 0.5% of rape cases are reported to the police.
“On average, 100 women are raped every 24 hours in Karachi city alone, and a majority of them are working women. I am saying with full authority that such a large number of rape cases happen in the city. But very few rape survivors have the courage to come forward in search of justice,” Additional Police Surgeon Zulfiqar Siyal said on Monday.He added that a majority of the victims working as domestic help.

If something like this is happening in a caity like karachi (which is the largest city in pakistan) , then think what is happening in other smaller cities.
I believe that the state of women in Pakistan is a lot worse than we thin, especially rape victims. Years ago I read somewhere that a rape victim in Pakistan has to have at least 2 ‘MUSLIM’ eye witnesses who are ‘MALES’ to prove that the act actually took place. In case, the eye witnesses happen to be non ‘MUSLIM’ or not ‘MALES’, the number of eye witnesses increases to 4. What are the chances of having such eye witnesses? If a woman files a case and then is unable to prove that the act took place because she does not have eye witnesses, she is punished under the law and has to serve the sentence…. Whether Karachi or Lahore or any tiny village in Pakistan if the law is not behind them, the state of women is unlikely to change in the centuries to come!!!!
