He is a leader of a regional political party operating in Maharashtra, India. It was founded on the 9th of March 2006 in Mumbai after splitting of the parent party Shiv Sena. He and his party recently attacked north Indian aspirants for railway jobs demanding that only Maharashtrians be recruited to fill vacancies in Central and Western Railway.
He dared Maharashtra government to arrest him and warned the state will have to “regret” the consequences in the event of that.” Arrest me and be ready to bear the consequences…. you will have to regret,” Thackeray, who was attending a ceremony at Bahadursheikh Naka in Chiplun, said. “If Raj is arrested, entire Maharashtra will be set on fire,” .
If Raj Thakre is Pro Mumbai then why the hell does he wants Maharashtra to burn? In a seperate incident a school on Maharashtra Bhawan premises in kanpur was on Monday vandalised by Dalit Panther activists who were protesting against attacks by Raj Thakeray-led MNS members. Will Raj Thackeray and his supporters help Maharashtrians if they are thrown out of other states?
- I’m From Goa. And would like to say that if we go by Mr. Raj Thackeray’s logic then I guess we should be sending back truckloads of Maharashtra’s who come here in droves and thus depriving the Goan Youth the opportunities.

It is disturbing to see that employees of Jet Airways sought the help of the MNS when they were given the pink slip. It is as if they were contracting the mafia to serve their private needs.
The party has taken a cue from the Shiv Sena which built its political base in Maharashtra in the 1960s and 1970s by promoting an aggressive agenda . It worked then , but it won’t now.
MNS is noting but a threat to national unity.

while ppl were beaten up in mumbai, a lot of coverage was given by the hindi media to the outrage and rightly so. all the hindi politicians made their protests (and typically bihari style too – hang raj thakre!). of course the great cause of ‘we all are indians’ was invoked.
but if they truly belive in what they preach, then how come NONE of the above even mention / cover the FACT that for the railway posts situated in maharashtra, WHY NO ADVTS WERE PUBLISHED IN MARATHI / MAHARASHTRA BASED NEWS PAPERS? is the issue not relevant or important? are maharashtrains NOT indians? their sons and daughters DON”T need jobs? unless u cover this aspect and ask laloo for a serious answer instead of more popular inanities, ur article remains biased. pls understand that such biased attitude by others makes it difficult for marathis to support them. if they have to chose between a bullshitting laloo and a bullshitting raj, they will chose raj.

At times I feel let down but I don’t know whom to blame. Because people like Raj Thakerey and lalu Yadav, who are all playing their dirty games to make the maximum out of a common Indian, represents us. They can stoop to such level because we let them go.
And the worst part is that we, people of India, support their causes. How else would you explain educated marathis justifying the mob attacks on innocent people. Or people supporting politicians like Abu azmi or Mulayam singh.
I’m a north Indian and I’ve nothing against Marathi manoos. And I’ve no hesitation in saying that I’m living a good life in Mumbai. But I’ve worked hard for it and deserve it. No politician has given me this good job or the good salary. There is no easy way out folks. Work hard and you all will get what you deserve

I completely dont disagree with you Mr. Raj, but the way you are handling things is very immatured.
First of all you shouldnt have touched students, it is non of your bussiness to interfere with somones careers, however if you are so much concerned about jobs for maharashtrians, which is a very good thought, please provide adequate education to all the maharashtrians that there is no need to get labour from other states, live and let live, however i also dont tolerate these people coming from different states without jobs, and then taking jobs for a mere salary, and they cant even arrange for a shelter and polluting the streets.
get rid of these people first.
Raj is all wrong but big question remain to be answered by the leaders like Lalu, Nitish, Maya, Mulayam.
Is there any population policy in these two states? If everyone becomes Dhritrashtra how the land will support them all there? The spill over of millions every year is bound to have resentment which happens everywhere in the globe.
Raj is policical leader and he is doing all this for his party benefit.
But the other side of the coin is he has been doing good things like arranging blood donation camps, helping young ppl to start their own business, get them job… etc.
During post mumbai terrist attacks, he and MNS workers were busy in helping victims without thinking whether he / she is marathi or noth indian, whereas other so called big leadrers were busy in making contracductory statements. These good work has never given any publisity by the media so i believe ppl like raj have left with no other option to create publicity stunt and get votes for their party.

I am Marwadi means Rajasthani but our family is living in Maharashtra since more than 100 years. Even after that We respect Maarashtrian culture, language, speak Marathi & celebrate Maharastrian festivals. We consider ourselves as Marathi.
But there are some UPs & Bihari people who born in Maharashtra but when we ask them your name & place for example they reply Pravin Yadav from Allahabad.
Shame on UPS & BIHARIWALA. AS they dont respect Marathi culture, language, dont speak Marathi, doing DADAGIRI, & BHaiyyagiri, creating dirty politics by supporting Goondas like Mulayam Singh, Lalu Yadav etc.
I think Maharashtra has given them FOOD, SHELTER & HOME & even afer they praise UPS.
But exceptions is peoples like Gujrati, Punjabi, Rajasthani & South Indian also they try to speak Marathi & respect Marathi culture & language.
They are also Marathi Bhumiputra who born in Maharashtra & respect Marathi Asmitata.
See example of Punjabi in Nanded. I respect them as even though they are Punjabi but respect Marathi & Maharashtrian people, Marathi culture, speak Marathi.
I think these UPS & Bihari supporter should teach their Hindi puran to South Indian of Tamilnadu.
